I've decided to start putting pictures in blogs. That one was taken by Doug on June 4. It is hanging on our fridge. It isn't my favorite, but it's kinda funny.
I worked tonight for the first night in what seemed like forever. Although I don't feel like I made much money, it does break down to $10/hour in tips, which isn't bad considering it was a slow night. I don't know the people I work with very well, it's always strange to start a new job, and not know anyone or their stories, and to be the new girl. I don't feel like I'm not welcome or something, but I don't know them the way they all know each other. There's also not as much downtime and time for chit chat like at J&Bs (which is nice, from a working perspective). Anyways, it's still going well there. I only had 3 scheduled shifts this week, but got put on tomorrow morning for the parties, and am working Monday and Tuesday before we go away, which is a relief.
Last night, I reluctantly (I dunno, funky mood) went to a party (went to hang out) at Marissa's boyfriend's house. There are maybe 20 of us (Clark kids) living on Beaver Street right now, and we all hang out together most Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays (or so it seems) . . . yet, I still don't know any of them. I thought maybe it was just me, but the other girls share my feeling. It's just strange. Anyways. The keg actually froze, because this guy Dave decided to chill it with dry ice they could steal from the lab where he works. Brilliant, Dave. I learned how to play flip cup. A whole bunch of us walked to the FooBar in a slight drizzle, and I had the best time dancing for hours. Kinda needed that. Walked home with Aaron and Katie, no rain, just Aaron shaking trees so we got soaked untill we wised up and walked in the street. It was a good night.

Brixham.
On one of our last weekends in London, Kate, Adrienne, Erin and I took a million hour bus ride to Brixham. There were lots of sheep and countryside along the way. One highlight was pigs in a field. I’ve only seen pigs in muddy farmyards, not spread across a field like pink sheep.
In Brixham, we were staying at Kate’s family friend Susan’s cottage. It was a truly lovely, lovely weekend. The place was tiiiny. Two small rooms, one on top of the other. There was a fireplace, and the front door was one of those that split into two.
Our first night, we went to dinner at this little place called the Poop Deck. The menu looked good, and as we climbed the stairs, we were instantly a thousand times more excited about our upcoming meal. The restaurant was on the top floor (third US style, second UK style), and hanging amongst the beams and rafters were fishing nets, star lanterns, and nets of little lights (like the kind meant to hang on bushes at Christmas). There was lots of cobalt blue, coral, yellow, and green. There was lots of exposed wood. I was in love.

A man and a boy were sitting at one end, at an area that looked mostly like a small bar. They were excited and surprised when we walked in (it was a very small place, there was only one other party of 2, and this was the first weekend they were opened for the season). We each ordered a drink, I don’t remember what I got, but it was good. The man encouraged us to get two orders of garlic bread, and we were very happy that we had when it was delivered. It was delicious.
For dinner, I had a Caesar salad and native prawns in garlic and oil (I think that’s what it was…) The salad was good, the prawns were truly wonderful. In fact, the prawns were so good that only half way through did I notice that the shells I was peeling off still had the eyes on them. (The restaurant had very low lighting, we were starved, and the prawns were delicious). After a moment to regain composure, I kept on eating them. Erin had monkfish, which I’d never had before, but it was good, and Kate and Adie had tuna nicoise, which I had also never had before, but it was delicious.
We had another round of drinks, I got some sort of fizzy peachy drink this time (house specialty), and the man brought this round complete with sparklers. It was only good times. He loved to chat and the 12 year old boy kept taking our orders and was great. They were sooo nice! We got some sort of blueberry souffle something or other for dessert, which was also delicious. We left full of wonderful, wonderful food, completely happy, and excited about a weekend away. The man let us know we were welcome to come back, even if just for drinks, and we said we hoped we would be the next night.
We walked around the bay and out onto the jetty. It was a beautiful night and we were happy. We went back to the cabin and had champagne some one had given Adrienne, wine, and made a fire - sort of. We went to bed early, and happy.
The next morning we had grapefruit for breakfast and trekked out for the day. We walked out on the jetty and laid blissfully in the sun for awhile. We had lunch outdoors on the bay. We visited the aquarium (1 pound admission I believe) … a sad, sad little place. We shopped all the funny little stores, had Devonshire cream tea (a must), and bought a kite and a soccer ball. We went back to the cabin and hung out outside, kicking around the ball, reading, having hot chocolate with Bailey’s when it started to get chilly.

That night, we went to the grocery store and bought fish and I think beans, and I don’t know what else, and it doesn’t matter… I made fish with lemon butter and cracker crumbs and it was a completely delicious meal. Later, we wandered down to town again and heard some one playing Bon Jovi covers acoustic in a pub. We ran into the man from the Poop Deck and had a chat. We walked around and saw memorials to local boys lost to the sea over the years. It was sad but somehow wonderful.
We went to bed fairly early again, and I opted not to get up in the morning and trek out to some hill, so I slept later and read Zelda when I woke up and picked things up around the cabin. It was really really nice, I was so relaxed. Sadly, we had to leave around lunch time, but what a wonderful place.
Brixham is a tiny fishing town in Devon, in South West England. It’s one of three towns that make up "the English Riviera." I’m pretty sure it’s the smallest of the three. It starts on a hill that sharply drops down to the bay and all up the side are rows upon rows of stucco cottages. It was gorgeous. I’ll have pictures posted soon. We were there before the tourist season had really begun, so we got to see the town in it’s off season state, which was cool. It’s difficult to explain it all, 2 months later … but what a wonderful place. It was such a good weekend. I was so … relaxed, and happy.

happy summer! and man, has it begun. granted, one of my roommates is at the beach today, one is at home swimming in her pool, and I am in the Beav, but I gotta work, and that's unfortunately also part of summer. I just finally got out of bed. I woke up at 9 this morning when Ildiko (sp?) came to see if me and Kates wanted to go to the beach, and then Kate came in and we talked for awhile, but I fell back asleep. My dad called at 1130 and we talked for a few, I got up for a few, then came back in and went back to sleep till a little while ago. I still only wind up with a grand total of 8 or so hours of sleep, though. :P

This week was only good times. Went out for lunch at the Sole Wednesday, which is always delicious. I love going out to eat. Mmmm! I don't even know what else, I've just been out a lot, made good money at work a lot, and had fun. thursday night doug jamie marc and tim played acoustic at the moonstruck, which was fun, but even more fun was being able to hang out out side for hours and hours with the tiki torches at jones st. after.

last night me kate lori mariss and aaron went for dinner at brew city. mo and i got giiiiant burgers, which is funny, the two of us being the previous vegetarians, especially marissa, who hasn't even been back on meat for a year yet. they were good. :) later, people came over, i cut vin's hair (pictures coming) - he had a five minute mullet before I finished it up. i don't really know the group of people who we keep hanging out with (the other girls do), so it's kinda weird, but kinda good at the same time, to be around different people who i have known who they are for the past 3 years, and been around them a good bit, but never really spent any time with them. like ildiko for instance. she randomly came to leitrim's with us when doug and chris came to pick me up. and she went to jill's after, which i kinda feel bad about because they were all just lookin' at pictures and stuff and we're just chillin', but she seemed okay with it, so whatever. i met some boy named cale who knows approximately 1000 people that i know. it was so random. i was telling katie and pat about it when i got back. pat knows him too. this boy knows about 70% of the people i know, i swear. kids from my high school, kids from fitchburg/leominster that i know, most of my ex-boyfriends, random clark kids .....

in other good news, dad called to fill me in on the financial package we got from clark this year, and i got another scholarship, so it's sweet, and i don't have to take out additional student loans. i am overjoyed.

now i'm just sitting around till i have to go to work . . . then who knows what . . . camping? IT? maybe just sleep. Oh man. As much as I looove hanging out, sleep sounds so key. but who knows how i'll be feeling at 10 :)

things are alllll right

work is going well at the webster house. so far i really like it, and have been making good money - - so all is well! everyone i work with is pretty nice, and what an odd mix of people. today i found out the manager's two sons who work there are both older than i thought. one is 29. ridiculous. i thought he was like 23. one is 22. i thought he was 18. woops.

friday night i worked and went to a clark party across the street. strange to be at a clark party without 70% of the school even being in the area. it was gts though, whatever, me and katiehill had a dance party, we all watched some beer pong . . .

mum and dad came down saturday and we painted up my room. i didn't realize how not-white the walls were till we painted them. it's all bright now and looks bigger. i almost love my room. it's sort of the anticipation of love - once all my stuff is there and i'm finished painting everything and putting things up, i think i will adooore it. right now i have no blinds, just blankets hanging from the bars, and one of the windows only has bars on the bottom half so the house next door could look right in so i usually change in the bathroom. that's kinda strange mostly.

danielle came out saturday night - only good times. after she left, i went to vin's with mo and katiehill where i experienced the joys of andrew w.k. and vin gave us a giant can of tropical fruit which i plan to use as work out equipment. i will be buff! went home & watched swingers. "and i'm supposed to be all exicited because ... she's wearing a backpack"

sunday i worked a double. then i sat around.

i worked this morning.

all this working means i have lots of money to put in the bank, which makes me full of joy. :D

vegas baby, vegas

when are you comin' over?

p.s. more quiz thingies

As dictators go, you're kind of pathetic! Instead of military coup or systematic persecution to get power, you just happen to be the head of the only party in the UK that isn't totally worthless! While not very impressive it is none the less effective! You can do whatever the hell you like without any chance of getting voted out of office! People know that the only alternative would have them eating their children if they ever got back into power! However, you still think that you are as loved as you were when you were first elected into power… News flash for you: You're not!

What tin-pot dictator are you? Take the "What Dictator am I?" test at PoisonedMinds.com

i went into the gap today. i saw some capri pants i liked. but they weren't capri on me, they were pretty much jsut weird ankle-length pants.
boo.

mmmm
yup i'm still at the apartment, and things are still good.
tomorrow i start my first solo shift at work, which should be good, and which means i will come home with money in my pocket (YEAY!).
we watched black hawk down last night. intense movie. i don't think i would say it was "good" ... really. tonight was original sin but the dvd kept skipping and we eventually stopped it about 10 minutes shy of the ending - another movie which i would say was "not good."
other than that, things are same ol same ol, but that's perfectly all right :D

Jun 11, 2002

I edited yesterday's entry since my dad just pointed out that it read as though there was a fight at the barbecue - he was quite confused. There was no fight at the party, people left to go watch the MikeTyson LenoxLewis fight on their black boxes.

So, not only do I have a phone line, but we also have internet! SWEET. This is a beautiful thing.

Not much to report. Today was hot, it's finally summer. Working tomorrow.

just another manic monday ...

The Barbecue was a hit, I'm very happy to say. Not only did the four of us have a great time, but everyone who came seemed to, too. We also got lots of compliments on our place, which adds to our love of it. :D The majority of the crowd split before 1030, due to the Tyson fight, and having to work the next day (boo to that). JamieSalo and SeanDunbar showed up around then with champagne! Doug & Jamie showed up not long after. Those of us who were left amused ourselves and I split for Leitrim's with D&J at one. It was a ridiculous night, let's just say.

We have plenty of beer left, due to the fact that James&crew brought their own 30 pack of budlight, along with some wachusett, aaron brought a ton of sam light, and MattDoyle gave us a twelve pack of ice house. Good lord. 46 Beaver was full of beer. The grill worked wonderfully, and we still have about 30 hot dogs left. Hot dogs & beer = another barbecue next weekend! :D hott

Two key people (on my end) neither showed nor called, hmmmm. One was not a definite attendee so that is acceptable, but the other seemed to have been a definite. They missed fun times, and they were missed as well.

I still have no internet at my apartment which means I never check my email, which then means it gets filled with crap and I stop recieving messages. So really, if you want to get in touch, call.

Today I woke up at 1122 when some unknown person called my cellphone. I didn't answer it in time, though, and they didn't leave a message. I went to bed at 1230, after having slept on the couch for most of the day. I guess I needed some sleep, hm?

Time to change loads of laundry. Come over & hang out tonight if you're not doing anything!

Hello from the library ....

Things are going really well! The aparment is great, and will be HOTT soon. My cupboard is peach and will soon be able to hold my clothes, yeay!

I started training at work last night. The job seems ridiculously easy. I think I could take my own tables tonight, and be fine. But oh well, tonight, tomorrow a.m., and then next week I start up on my own.

Looking forward to the weekend

Hullo from the LB but I'm now a certified Worcester resident ...!

Sunday we (mom dad, g&g) hit the Beav. Dad and I put together my desk, mum and grandma scrubbed the floor. Slave labor. It looks SO much better now, I am speechless. Went out for dinner again, yummm.

Monday a.m. g&g left. It was a nice visit with them. Mum and I went out to buy sheets and I bought 3 more blue glasses from Pier 1 to match the 1 I already owned. I lovelovelove them. I love all blue glass. Mmmm. Went to the apt. to move more stuff in like bedding and clothes and my comp. Good times. Mom left I put more stuff together, Mo and I went to Ames, bought the grill, yeay! Walked to Fantastic's for subs, saw lots of people on the way, including KATE! YEAAAAY! Fantastics was good and filling, then we went home, and Mo and I went to Home Depot. IT WAS GREAT. It was like the television commericials where everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable. I have full faith that the people we met last night could teach us just about anything. They gave us tons of information in just the time we were there. Two thumbs up for HD. Chilled at home after and we all slept with our doors open (but we all slept very well, even me, which I wasn't expecting considering it's a new bed and it's currently in the middle of my room), but we didn't go running at 7 this morning like we were supposed to. After everyone's home tonight is the new plan... wish us luck.

Took my car to Colonial today b/c my service engine light was on again and it was making the same noise as before. Only took an hour and this time they replaced the hose (which was cracked), and last time I think they just stuck it back on.

All's well. Come to the barbecue this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay? Okay.

Jun 1, 2002

finally sucked up reality and switched the time-of-blog back to eastern standard time.

went up to the annual library booksale today. got some good books, and a few records. spent from 1130-330 up to my elbows in dirt at my new place today, except for a trip to ames/thedollarstore, and a ten minute pizza break. the beav is looking a hell of a lot better though. none of my stuff is in there yet, really, but before leaving i put some dishes in the cupboard. much thanks to kate and mo's parents/families :D tomorrow i'm bringing down my bed, desk, and anything else i can squeeze in. mom dad grandma and grandpa are coming down to see clark & my place (scary), and bringing some more stuff. hopefully monday i'll be all moved in. barbecue saturday is ON!

came home and went out for cyndy's graduation dinner. we went to the great impasta, it was nice. i think she had a good time last night, and tonight as well. we then sat around on the couches for several hours. that's about it for my night, haha. i was maybe going to go to adam's but meliss and angela were gone from j&bs when i called and called meliss' cell phone and she'd forgotten entirely. i feel bad b/c adam now knows i called the restaurant looking for them and that i didn't go b/c they weren't. is that crappy of me? not entirely, i don't think. it would be hanging out with kids i didn't know very well in high school, and younger kids from work. i dunno. probably should get some sleep anyways, i'm wiped out.
1214 am june 1

i move into my apartment in 11 hours! can you believe it? i really can't. talked to mo today and she asked if i was psyched and i AM but i haven't even had a chance to think about it, with all that's been going on...

cyndy's graduation was tonight and it was nice. a HUGE thunderstorm was going on outside, so i guess it's a good thing it was moved indoors. i finally met the infamous mr. anderson, who was cuter than i expected, and was asking me about london and stuff - i was unprepared for small talk. maybe i will run into him in worcester, who knows.

we took lots of pics and whatnot and had cake & wine after with g&g and the roots and phylis. it was nice.

i can't believe cyndy graduated, all grown up.

need to sleep, very tired, need to pack / partly move tomorrow.
