soooo work tonight was good, it was nice to see people, and finally catch up about the last party ... turns out i was not the only one with weirdo scrapes. staton is back to working there, and mike is moving to brooklyn, like, next week - whaaat?

mo's officially 21 in like 45 minutes ... now if only the girls were here ....

and if only you weren't such a frat boy, pal...

Karaoke night was only fun. Lori and I did "Livin' on a Prayer" and we did it right. The crowd loved it, hahahaha. All the PAs did "Baby Got Back," 'nough said. Jeff Carl & Jared doing "500 Miles," with choreography, was def. a highlight, though.

Had my first class of my senior year this morning - frightening. I'm required to watch 3 hours of television per week, and analyze it. Seems kinda gross, but it's like having a weekly screening for a film class.

The bookstore is still swamped and the UC was packed. I ran in and out of both. It's very very strange to have 1800 other people here after being here for all of the quiet summer. I'm not sure I like it. No, it's definitely good to see people, but it's definitely overwhelming. Everyone looks different, too, because I haven't seen most of these people since December. "How was London?" "Amazing." It's been shortened to that.

The new Traina Center for the Arts is GORGEOUS. It's very modern. I'm glad it's so nice since 3 of my classes are there this semester.

Back to the Beav for lunch, off to video production, then up to the LB to celebrate the sis' bday.

orientation is going well so far.
suddenly it's fall.

Aug 21, 2002

today i rode the bus. i made four friends on the bus, 3 of whom were slightly crazy men, and 1 overly friendly woman. the bus driver was friendly, and i saw the guy who was always at my screenings and who comes to the webster house.
i rode the bus because it's part of international student orientation to take the new students on the bus to places like the outlets, so they can be familiar with a way to travel around the city. super.

so far it's going well. rahima speaks english very well. she had to get an mmr shot this morning, which sucked. ricardo is doing pretty well, too, but i haven't talked to him as much because his parents are with him.

as for me ... the PA party was fun the other night, although not as fun as last year, for a variety of reasons. 1. we don't all know each other as well as we did at this point last year 2. bobby's house wasn't as condusive to dancing as clare's 3. bobby's non-PA friends were there, requesting only ultra-thug music be played. interesting points of the evening were rachel knowing every word to "pour some sugar on me" and never making it to hariss' because i saw joey from french fall semester, and ended up meeting another scott and talking to him on florence street for 45 minutes, along with melissashannon, kate j., and sihiya who were actually friends with these people (i think).

tomorrow should be a pretty relaxed day, i may do some of my work (yuuuuck).

it's like i don't know the words to the song that's stuck in my mind.

the international students arrive tomorrow. RIDICULOUSNESS.

this is the longest summer of my life and it has gone by far too quickly.

i got my paper extended till september 15.

that's about it.

"are you saying i have a big butt?"
"no, no, but you got good booty for a white girl."

Camp PA was good this year. It was a million degrees so there were not so many running games. The pool was open, which was nice, but I had definitely been looking forward to canoeing on the lake, like last year, purely because I don't have that many opportunities to ride around in boats and stuff.
I fell asleep by 1030 or so, lo and mo and rich and i don't know who else were playing cards, and I just couldn't stay up. I could hear people singing by the fire. I was exhausted. Apparently I woke up several times (I do not remember this) and said things like "i didn't take my contacts out" (which i had), "shhh!" (everyone turns) "no not you, the mattress." I don't know. Sometimes I talk in my sleep.
I feel like i haven't gotten to know new people as well this year, as last. I think part of it is due to Mariss and Lori and Scott, etc. all being PAs. Last year I only knew Richard pretty much, and met so many more people. I must work on that. Also, I don't think we've done as much "bonding" stuff. It's going well though. PA party Monday night. International Students arrive Tuesday. Craziness.
