hey hey !

not so much to report ... things are just goin' along. i haven't had much work lately which is sooooo nice.

yesterday in cultural psych we had an over-an-hour-long discussion about "ART." this girl who at the beginning of the semester kept calling portraits "facials" was doing her whole act of "well i know everything in the entire world and i know all the rules and everything is black and white" thing about "what is art?" i was so annoyed. so many things people were saying didn't even make sense, no one was listening to themselves. i talked a few times about intent, and that even though a chair may be mass produced, it can still be considered art or at least artistic - even if it's not set under a spotlight - because some one designed that chair not only to be comfortable, but also to be aesthetically pleasing (at least in the case of the chairs in our seminar room). Mariss said at first I sounded pissed but kept my volume really level so I just sounded passionate. it was great to have a discussion in there for once, but it was just really really frustrating.

in other news .... we went to the hockey game sunday night and even though clark lost, it was a fun game. vin even wrote an editorial to the paper thanking me and shapiro for organizing and for everyone coming especially from 13 and 46 beaver. awww! i also got quoted in the article about studco. man, i'm making waves this week. but that article was slightly ridic. (it was continued on another page under the headline "bickering continues"). but it wasn't as ridiculous as the article written ambiguously by "the scarlet staff" a.k.a. scott. i hate when people write articles that start with things like "The time has come for student organizations to stand up to Student Council and demand the accountability and just practice that all students deserve" and don't put their name on it! we all know he wrote it b/c he was at the meeting. and if he didn't, well, then, that's one more reason who ever did should have put their name on it. i dunno, i'm pretty worked up over it, because he used to be on council, and of all people he should understand the way budgets work. the article makes it sound like we made them give us $1000 that was theirs, and that's not what happened. oh man. i'm writing an editorial for next week. watch out.

anyways. i'm glad it's friday. i have to work tonight, but really, i always make great money on friday nights. sweeet. i am probably going to amherst tomorrow afternoon to see meredith and hopefully danielle. i have not seen meredith since, like, july. that needs to be fixed.

oh and i do yoga now.

hey, it's wicked cold outside.

we were out for over two hours today working on our capstone research thing. we got a lot of people to participate, so that was great, including one boy whose phone number kat got "in case we need to ask more questions," because mariss thinks i should date him. riiiight.

vin treated mo and i to dinner in the caf on his meal card b/c they were showing spiderman, pretty sweet.

and here i am ... nothing to do (yeay!) there is a show in the grind at 815, some electronica band, and i feel like i should go support clark and dave buttttt it's absolutely frigid out, and i dont think i'd be that into it. i feel bad. i think i'm going to watch t.v. for class ... that sounds so lame. it's so nice not to have anything actually due for once. same deal yesterday, soooo nice. video editing 10-12, maybe out with rachel and dori after, fun times... :)

so... here i am in the library ... i've been here for over an hour checking/writing emails, cleaning out my clark inbox, doing various things - gotta love this fast internet. i'm about to go photo copy some articles from the book for my t.v. class. i think i've spent about $8 on photocopying so far, but i still think it will be cheaper to copy all the articles we are actually reading than to buy the book for $60, read half of it, and (hopefully) get to sell it back for $30. right? right.

so we all got an email on sunday, one of those lovely "timely warnings" ... i don't remember the last time i got one.
"at approximately 2:00 am a female Clark student was walking in the vicinity of Shirley and Florence Streets. She was approached by two males who asked her a question. Both of them then sexually assaulted her. The student then ran away. The two males are described as follows: both are white and approximately 18 - 22 years of age. One was wearing a dark grey hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The other wore a black baseball hat backwards and jeans. One was taller than the other with approximate heights being 5'7" and 5'9"."
granted, we all try not to walk alone, but i know i have become far too confident walking around school. the area where she was attacked is well lit, families live there, the parking garage is there, and UP is not even 100 yards away from that intersection. two random guys, they could have been clark students, who knows...

met with timshary today for course scheduling. things look good although i had to email the head of the department with 3 very important questions. i'm going to register for everything possible tomorrow, and then change it if i have to. i may even petition to take a third class, who knows. prof. shary was great and said he wrote me a strong recommendation for the mspc, and that although he's on sabbatical next semester, he'd write me another if i need one for internships or jobs or anything. yeay! i refuse to be scared of what i'm going to do after may!

other than that, it's all ho-hum. t.v. test today, psych cancelled for thursday, doing the freud project this week blahblahblah ... mandy's wedding is saturday, which should be fun, and james & all those guys are planning a worcester trip sometime in the near future - it would be sooo great to see them.

all right, outs for photocopies, nightlandscape, and early sleep

oh man. i never write.

wednesday we had a halloween party ... although i felt like i had to overcompensate as hostess for my not-as-psyched flatmates, it was a great time. yummy fall - smelling candles, cider, candy, theshining and pumpkin carving. i got lots of compliments on the invitations. that spider ribbon was excellent. we had 10 lit jack o'lanterns in the living room at once. and i just today realized there are still 2 pumpkins in my trunk . . .

thursday - halloween, yeay! a kid in my visual studies class was dressed up - way to go mike, it's tough to be that enthusiastic at 9 a.m. i met katie for lunch in the caf. i hadn't been there (besides twice for brunch) in about a year. weird. psych of art didn't run too long, we helped another group with their pilot ... mo and i came home, did some stuff, went and got tim, went to the halloween outlet (not as packed as it was last saturday!) for last minute key items. went to greendale to see todd @ waldenbooks. ate pizza. got invited to go to the "lingerie ball" with nick and james, but opted out. it was suuuuch a tough choice, i never see those guys! nick's IM profile the next day said he hung out with weird al. i missed out. mo and i came back, went to hear jill stein speak (go green!), (saw jill's brother who i haven't seen in ages), got dressed up, and went out. (pics hopefully coming soon) we hit up the cocobongo (sketchy) the foo bar (lots of costumes but pretty empty, a few clark people) the blarney (some more clark people, not too many in costume) and lietrim's (not toooo many people in costume, but some, and fun dancing and jamiefitz was there). came home in a crowded car (lori & katie were sober thanks to their 8 a.m. friday exam), hung out, was last seen cracking up on my bedroom floor at 3 a.m.

friday - class, spent years in studco, GOT AN A ON MY LONDON PAPER - YESSSSS! That's one entire credit (equal to a regular class by clark's system) based on a 15 page paper (including pictures) on the importance of history to contemporary graphic design. yes. thank god that is finally all set, and with such great results! i worked that night, it was okay, and staton closed (yeay) came home, hung out, got dressed up. drove way the hell down to richard's, then to dana commons. i won third place in the costume contest! sweet! we saw raffi's band play, winding up with 11:11, not only a fun song, but the only one i ever recognize. we then hit up the blarney - there were a ton of clark people -- and alums - including purple hat boy ... in a slightly different, yet purple hat. he glared at me. i haven't seen him since the end of sophomore year. a good night overall.

worked till 4 today, came home, read, hung out, went to eat @ the webster house with mo and vin where we got the "bling bling" treatment, with chris chatting and bringing us a free roasted feta appetizer to try out. i got scallops in my greek pasta, yum, although mo and i couldn't even get through half of our dinners by the time we got to them. stopped back at the beav, picked up sean and layla, went to see the ring. 920 was pretty much sold out. bought tickets & hung out till the 1020. sean & vin raced video game cars and some 15 year old boy in an Unseen tshirt told me they had just seen jackass and now wanted to do everything they did, just because they said not to. way to go, guy. his friend had a bunch of patches on his vest, including "cheer up emo kid" -- that's right aaron. the ring CREEPED ME OUT, to say the least, but i'm feeling pretty good now. i may sleep on the couch tonight, although the t.v. in the living room is larger & therefore more frightening. eek. stopped by the blarney for a quick drink, came back here to hang out. i see that ben folds is playing at lupos on my bday .. hmmm.

working again tomorrow and studying/reading for TV allllll night.

hope you had a good one
xoxo.
